Sorry about the topic title, I won't do it for volume 3. >!Unless...!<

Sequel to my volume 1 thoughts!

Yeah as you can probably guess from the topic title, while volume 1 merely convinced me this series had promise, volume 2 got me to want to see it all the way. The character moments were so much better, they behaved so much rawer, and there was more going on than just Renako enduring her waifu of the book's advances.

So while Renako was my most divisive character in volume 1, she was just kinda fantastic in 2. I really loved seeing her being a more active and assertive participant in events, and I found her gamerness really endearing, she felt really authentic in that regard. Also her getting blindsided and killed by Mai just rushing her during the first round of their match felt very real, I can't handle rushes in RTS multiplayer either, heheh.

Satsuki... man, she is hard to figure out, lol. Deepest respect for Mai being apparently able to figure her head out, because I ended the volume still not sure what she was out for. Excellent character, she's fun in an evil kind of way.

Kaho's adorable. Little bundle of optimism and energy, she's a fun addition to scenes. I struggle to see her as a potential romantic partner if this series goes the full 5-person polycule, route, though. Maybe future material will help with that.

I'm... still not seeing the vision with Ajisai. Volume 3's next, maybe then I'll get why people say she's best girl.

As for the person I do think is best girl, I really liked watching Mai's character growth, she's a lot more receptive to Renako's wants and I'm glad to see her learning it. Having finally read the lap pillow scene, I'm kinda mad at having been told the anime cut it out, that was such a goddamn good moment for her and Renako! It was a delight seeing Renako take the lead on physical intimacy and causing Mai to melt.

Why is it so hard to find volumes past 3 in physical, though? :( I have 3 now and I managed to find 4 somewhere, but 5, 6, and 7 elude me. Not taking chances, I pre-ordered 8.

Less to say this time, I got kinda gushy because I had less to criticize. It was just a fun ride the whole way, I might have belted it out in a day or two if I wasn't trying to S+ Separate Ways.
