I'm considering a backpack with reins for my toddler, as he's faster than me at times and has a talent for finding danger.

My husband thinks at some point he read about a safe age for a toddler to bear any kind of weight, even an empty backpack. I can't find any such guideline, but it makes sense to me that it might not be safe to put a toddler who's learning to walk into a backpack.

Is there a safe age or size for when a toddler can start wearing a backpack, or using toddler reins?
