My boyfriend [19M] forgot about my birthday [19F]
Me and my boyfriend have been together for about 8 months now, ive never really liked making a fuss of it but this is also my first relationship so I was excited to spend my birthday with my boyfriend. He hadn’t mentioned my birthday all week so I thought maybe he was gonna surprise me and take me out on a date or for drinks or whatever but when we were talking yesterday he said “I’m meeting my friends from uni for coffee to do my coursework tomorrow do you wanna go gym after?” (His friends from uni are girls by the way) I didnt really know what to say I was kind of hurt that he’s hanging out with two girls on his girlfriends birthday. I said gym sounds good and that I was maybe gonna treat myself to a pint after since it was my birthday tomorrow. Then he realised and apologised but didnt cancel on them?
We decided last night that we were gonna wake up early to go to the gym 7:30am ish so that we’d have time to do something in the afternoon and when I tried to wake him he kept rolling over back to sleep. It’s now 11am and I’m going to the gym by myself and he’s meeting his friends soon. He said he’ll be busy till around 4 or 5. I told him I’d rather not do anything because I don’t feel like it anymore (trying to make him feel bad)
It’s also the first birthday ive had to spend alone as I don’t live with my family anymore, I live with my boyfriend.
I know people have their own things going on but he’s my boyfriend and it’s my birthday. It just hurts to know he forgot.
