Watching S1-3 episodes on streaming is not the same

Watching The Game on Netflix with the replacement music… it just doesn’t hit the same. Even with stock tracks, the scenes feel flat.

Back then, songs like Irreplaceable by Beyoncé made Melanie finding out about Drew unforgettable. The music carried the tension, the betrayal, the heartbreak. Without it, the storytelling loses its punch and the nostalgia just feels off.

It’s wild how much a single song can change the whole vibe of a scene.

Wednesday Nights on The WB

So, up until about the fall of 1998, Wednesday nights seemed to be a popular destination for The WB's comedy programming. However, as its reliance on scripted dramas grew, it became another night for those shows. Which did you prefer?

Does anyone remembers Black Sash?

I came across Black Sash and honestly I don’t even remember this show like that. But the moment I saw Ray J was in it, I just started laughing because I swear every time I see him pop up in a show, it gets canceled 😭

From what I saw, it was about a martial arts instructor mentoring teens and trying to keep them on the right path. It had that early 2000s vibe, but it didn’t last long at all.

I don’t know, maybe it deserved more time, but that Ray J track record had me side eyeing it lol.

Did anyone actually watch this when it aired?

Unnatural History (2010)

I randomly thought about Unnatural History and how Cartoon Network was really trying something different with live action shows back then. This was one of the few I actually liked.

It was about this kid, Henry who traveled the world with his parents and picked up all these random skills, then gets sent to a regular high school and somehow ends up solving mysteries with his friends. Every episode had something weird going on tied to history or artifacts.

I’m not even gonna lie, I definitely had a crush on the lead character back then 😭 I knew I liked guys early on, and I remember tuning in just to see him.

It only had one season and just disappeared, which still feels crazy because it had potential.

Anybody else remember this one?

What’s the sexiest R&B music video, in your opinion?

So I just rewatched More & More by Joe and… yeah, that man really said “I don’t need props, I am the prop.” The lighting, and the grown folk confidence, it’s giving late night playlist energy in video form.

It’s simple, but that’s what makes it hit. No wild storyline, no over the top theatrics. Just smooth, intimate, “I know exactly what I’m doing” vibes from start to finish.

And look, as a guy, I gotta be real, Joe is one fine man. That presence, that body, he knew exactly what he was doing in every shot. And the model in the video? Just as fine. The chemistry really sells the whole vibe.

Honestly, I remember watching this when I was younger, sneaking at the back of the couch while my mom was watching Midnight Love or BET After Dark. Those music video shows were something else, they really set the mood for tracks like this.

Now I’m curious, what’s your pick for sexiest R&B video?

Season 7–10 of All That is forgotten…

I feel like nobody really talks about Seasons 7–10 of All That.

Yeah, we all know what came out from Quiet on Set, and it definitely changed how people look at that era. But I don’t always like focusing only on the negative.

I’m 26 now, and this was actually my version of the show growing up. I didn’t even know All That started in the 90s until I got older, because these were the seasons I was watching in real time.

I know most people prefer the original cast, but the later era had its own thing going. Lisa Foiles, Jack DeSena, and Giovonnie Samuels were some of my favorites. That was my cast.

I even liked the behind-the-scenes setup they had before the show started. It just felt fun and different.

Yeah, some sketches were kinda gross, but I still enjoyed stuff like Thelma Stump, the American Idol parody, and Bridget’s Slumber Party. Those are the ones I still remember. Heck, the Know Your Stars segment.

And the musical guests don’t get enough credit either. I remember Bow Wow performing, and that was a big moment to me back then.

It might not be the 90s era everyone always praises, but Seasons 7–10 deserve way more recognition than they get. For some of us, that was All That.

Favorite R&B song from a movie soundtrack?

I was just thinking about this, but for me it really comes down to Say Goodbye by Chris Brown and Get Up by Ciara. And the crazy part is they both came off the Step Up soundtrack.

I’m not even gonna lie, Say Goodbye is probably the one that sticks with me more. It’s just one of those songs you actually feel when it comes on. Like it instantly takes me back to that scene and that whole time period. That late 2000s R&B had a different kind of emotion to it.

But then Get Up is a whole different vibe. That song got energy from the start. Soon as it comes on, you already know what time it is. It fit the dancing in the movie perfectly, and it’s still one of those songs you can play now and it don’t feel old.

That’s why I stay stuck on this lol. One is more emotional, the other one just makes you wanna move. It really just depends on what mood I’m in that day.

If I had to pick, I might lean toward Get Up because it’s just that good.

Question, what’s your favorite song from a movie soundtrack?

Favorite song from a blue eyed singer?

I’ve been thinking about this lately, and there are definitely a lot of songs from blue eyed artists that I like.

But for me, I’m going with Wait For You by Elliott Yamin. I grew up listening to that track when I was younger. I remember seeing the video playing before I had to head to school, and it just stuck with me.

That man can really sing, like truly sing his heart out. His voice had so much soul and emotion in it. I’m still mad American Idol did him dirty, because he deserved way more recognition than he got.

Honorable Mention: Movin’ On by Elliott Yamin (I still remember he performed this song on Ellen).

What about you? What’s your favorite song from any blue-eyed singer?

It's Monday night on The WB. What are you watching?

I know I left out a ton of stuff, but hopefully this is a decent sample size!

Spectacular (2009)

I was thinking about old Nickelodeon stuff and Spectacular! popped into my head.

This was a 2009 TV movie about a high school show choir that is struggling to stay together. A laid back singer named Nikko gets talked into joining them to help them win a big competition and it turns into a musical filled adventure.

I remember the cast too. Nolan Gerard Funk was great as Nikko and there were appearances from people like Victoria Justice and Avan Jogia before they were on Victorious together. The music was catchy and it actually had more heart than I expected.

I do not see this one talked about much anymore but it was a fun movie to watch back then and still holds up pretty well if you go back to it.

Did anyone else watch Spectacular! when it first came out?

Wildfire (2005–2008)

I’ve been watching Wildfire on Tubi lately and it really holds up. It follows Kris Furillo, a troubled young woman who gets a fresh start working with horses at a ranch. The mix of personal drama, romance, and her bond with the horses makes it surprisingly engaging.

Even though it ran for a few seasons, it feels like it didn’t get nearly enough attention. The cast is great and the ranch setting gives it a vibe that stands out from other teen dramas from the mid-2000s.

Did anyone else rediscover this show recently, or did you catch it back when it aired?

What’s your favorite Jamie Foxx song?

I’m going with Do What It Do from Unpredictable. That song just has this energy that makes you wanna move. I love how Jamie mixes smooth R&B with a little cheeky flirty vibe it’s the kind of track that sticks with you. And can we talk about Tank killing it on the background vocals at the end? Seriously underrated.

What about you? What’s your favorite Jamie Foxx song?

Do anyone remembers For Your Love?

I never watched this during its original run, I only caught it in syndication when I was younger. It would just come on randomly and I’d sit there and watch it, not even realizing what show it was at first.

Now that I’m older, it’s kinda crazy looking back and realizing it started on NBC and then moved to The WB and still kept going. That doesn’t really happen like that anymore.

And knowing it was created by Yvette Lee Bowser makes a lot of sense. The way the relationships were written felt real, not over the top, just everyday couples dealing with stuff.

It’s one of those shows I don’t really see people talk about much, but I remember it sticking with me from those reruns.

Did anybody else catch this on syndication back in the day?
