Hey everyone,

I have my ENG 255 final exam today, and it’s being proctored through ProctorU. I’m kind of nervous since I’ve never done this before, so I wanted to ask everything I should know before going in.

About the exam itself:

What usually comes in the ENG 255 final exam?

Is it mostly essays, short answers, or both?

Do they give a reading/passage to analyze, or is it more general topics?

How many questions/essays are there and how long are they expected to be?

Is it more analysis, comparison (like contrast essays), or opinion-based?

Are examples required or can we write more generally?

Is it easy, medium, or actually hard if you prepare normally?

About difficulty & marking:

What do professors usually look for to give high marks?

Is grammar super strict or more focus on ideas?

Do they expect perfect structure (intro-body-conclusion)?

About ProctorU experience:

How strict are they during the exam?

Can you look away or think without getting flagged?

Are you allowed water / scratch paper?

Can you go to the washroom during the exam?

Any technical issues I should be ready for?

What happens if internet cuts or something goes wrong?

General tips:

What would you do differently if you took it again?

Any last-minute advice to do well?

Thanks so much in advance 🙏
