Hi! I’m making embroidered keychains and I’m having trouble with my satin stitch. On my test sample it looked great, but on the actual piece the stitches are uneven and messy. The difference: I added a layer of Decovil (heavy fusible interfacing) underneath before embroidering.
My setup: Brother Skitch PP1, size 100/16 anti-glue embroidery needles, Madeira Polyneon thread, design made with Inkstitch. My satin stitch is set at 3mm and is preceded by a zigzag underlay stitch.
Is Decovil too rigid for satin stitch? Should I embroider first and add the Decovil after? Also wondering — would using felt or EVA foam instead of Decovil help? Any advice welcome!
