Can someone explain to me the workflow of 3D scanning of an object to design a feature/mount/holder for it? I am planning to understand what the general work flow is and what equipment i would need.

Also, could someone recommend a 3D scanner for scanning small-medium objects? Looking to purchase one that would give enough fidelity to design around.
