I just bought a shipment of self-stealing stem bolts and I have some concerns
So I picked up 100 gross of self-stealing stem bolts from a Lissepian freighter captain at DS9. Great price. Couldn't pass it up.
Problem is, I'm now down to 87 gross and I only took delivery yesterday. I've checked the cargo bay sensors and there's no sign of unauthorised access. No transporter signatures. Nothing.
I've filed a report with Odo but he just stared at me for about thirty seconds and then said "You bought bolts that steal themselves and you're surprised they're missing." Then he did the thing with his face. You know the thing.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Do they eventually come back? Is there a firmware update? My Ferengi contact says I can sell what's left to the Bajoran government for their irrigation project but at this rate I'll have nothing left to deliver.
Nog says I should have read the fine print on the bill of sale. Apparently there's a clause that says "seller not responsible for inventory shrinkage due to product self-determination." I thought that was a joke.
