First time home buyers trying to navigate this wild Westchester market. Emphasis on first time because this may seem naive. We have put offers in on a few houses that “need work” after quick consults with a GC contact and designer friend to discuss feasibility. This felt reasonable because the work didn’t seem major.
For us to be fully invested in the latest house we’re considering we would love to get an architect’s help for a quick validation that our ideas seem to be within the realm of possibility. Here it would be adding a powder room, expanding the kitchen, and adding an upstairs bath along existing plumbing stack.
With how far the market moves, I’m anxious about selling on a house that ultimately can’t meet our needs. How do people navigate this when decisions are made fast? We will bring a GC to the showing but I’d love the input of an architect or similar. Is there any architect who offers this sort of quick assessment service? Seems so unlikely but I don’t know how to navigate. Thank you!
