I’m struggling to get interviews and would really appreciate some honest feedback and guidance.

I’m targeting roles in quant engineering, AI engineering, software engineering, and product management. I’m applying across the U.S. (Chicago, NYC, California, North Carolina) — both local and remote roles, and I’m willing to relocate.

Background:

  • CS student at a top ~30 liberal arts college
  • Currently working as a Digital Assets Specialist
  • International student (so visa sponsorship is a factor)

Job search situation:

  • Applied to a good number of summer internships
  • Got a few online assessments (OAs) and some initial traction
  • But overall, I’m not getting interview callbacks at all from most applications

What I need help with:

  • Is my resume actually competitive, or is that the main issue?
  • Could my international status be filtering me out early?
  • What should I be doing differently to get interviews (not just apply more)?

I’m mainly looking for overall resume + strategy feedback, not just small edits.

Would really appreciate any insights — especially from people who’ve been in a similar situation or have experience hiring.

Thanks in advance!

On the Bridge Between QUANT and SWE

So, recently I have been researching a lot about quant positions and how to get the interviews and that kind of stuff. I got to know that knowing low-latency systems and other core baseline systems courses is needed to get into quant software-engineering. I am not talking about quant-trading or quant-research; I am talking about quant SWE here. So, My concern is will AI be able to understand and code deep system designs in the coming decade. It seems people now are developing AI agents and developing hella lot of things, including predicting stocks (though I am not sure how the models are performing right now; I heard opius 4.6 is great for backtesting), so I actually can focus on my current studies now. I am a college FRESHMEN and will be doing summer research for this summer. What are my chances of thinking or even for being humble is my thinking well for this way?
