I’ve had the same best friend since middle school, let’s call her Ashley. We’ve been through many stages of life together and now we are at the stage where I am getting married. My wedding is this fall and has been planned for nearly a year now. If my husband and I were doing traditional wedding parties (he doesn’t have a big circle) then I would have asked Ashley to be my maid of honor… that’s how close we are (or so I thought.) Ashley calls me last week and tells me that she has this amazing opportunity to go on TV. I am so excited for her, this is great news. She pitches the whole thing up and then breaks it to me that filming is during the time of my bachelorette and wedding. I at first am super supportive and passive about it in an effort to not come across as selfish. The more I dwell on it the more upset I get. Imagine getting married and your best friend skips out for potential clout (this is not a show people get instagram famous on often) I keep picturing my wedding day and I can’t see it without me being upset she’s not there. I fully expected her to turn down the opportunity once she found out when filming is but it didn’t even cross her mind. AITA if I end this friendship if she skips my wedding.
