Moving into new apartment, Landlord will not allow window unit or ANYTHING protruding beyond the outside wall.

Measured the sleeve and its only 6" Deep. I've near even HEARD of a sleeve that shallow, never mind seen one in all my years of doing construction work.

Any idea what I should do? I'm 90% sure that replacing the sleeve is OUT, its a public housing unit.

EDIT: need at least a 10k BTU unit.
