I'm an International Student from Jamaica. I wasn't able to get a lot of college counselling after Hurricane Mellissa and went into common app blind (no electricity or stable internet). I've been added to the waitlist for NYU and only then did I realize that I needed to submit my CSS to qualify for aid at NYU.
I made it ULTRA clear on my common app and my essays that I was from a low income background. The Tuition alone is 3.5 times my parents combined Income (Yes I'm still alive). Because of the yield for Tandon I confident enough to believe I can get off the waitlist but I cannot feasibly pay tuition without aid. I have family In Queens and I'm planning on living with them throughout my Degree.
NYU has always been my dream school and It would actually kill me If I were to get accepted and have to turn It down due to finances. I've always wanted that City life.
