UCSD Financial aid Risk of Homelessness Appeal's
Hello, I am currently a second year student and I unfortunately didn't get a spot for housing for my third year. I knew I didn't get a good time so I was already looking for an affordable place to live. I was kicked out of my family home the summer before my freshman year and throughout my freshman year, I went through a long process of becoming independent on my FASFA which I did and got approved to fund my second year at UCSD. I was told that filling out the FASFA for 2026-2027 that I would just need to press,' Determined independent by Financial aid "or something like that which I did, but now they are asking me to summit more letter(s) or letter to determine my homelessness and risk of homelessness. Like I did last year. I didn't have the letters that they were asking for so I just summited my personal statements and a letter from a family member that new my situation and was given an interview. I did get approved for that after the interview. At the time, I had just gotten a job. But now I work two jobs and do school full time. I struggle everyday. I was able to find a place to live for next year 1200 plus 20% of utilities for a room working two jobs (I work everyday). But unfortunately, the letters that I keep submitting continue to get rejected even with my 2 W-2's from both jobs and recent paystubs. I also included another personal statement from me and my aunt. My father also sadly pasted away in December so I've been trying to help my sister financially since she is lived with my father out of state and is left alone with no other family members to help her either. I have mentioned this is my personal statement, how I will have to work ALOT more than I already do to be able to go to school here. I am very tired and I am only 19. All I want is a chance to make it here at UCSD. But I Feel like that chance will slip away if I don't get funding for next year. I have already talked to fanatical aid and they have told me that if the appeal doesn't get approved then I will not get funding for next year. Please help? I need suggestions to know what to do. I have resubmitted the letters along with my financial documents twice now along with requesting an interview. and both times been rejected. Please help me. I will take any suggestions on what to do in this situation. Thank you for taking the time to read this and help me.
