Was it a date ?
So for context, I have a crush on one of my friends. I offered him to come with me see a play, and he agreed. For the record, he edited his text FOUR TIMES before I answered him, like it basically went from « yes I’d love to », to « yes totally » to « yes I’d like to see it » (badly translated from my original language but you get the gist). Se we met at the theatre, we talked a little, we watched the play - which was awesome. He made little comments to me throughout the play, and I swear sometimes he looked at me to see if I was laughing at the jokes. After the play, we talked for a little bit saying it was great. He asked me which way was my subway station, and I told him I wanted to walk for a bit, so I wouldn’t take the nearest station but the next one. He said he could go for a walk too, and so we started chatting while walking through our city. Spoiler, I didn’t take the next station because we walked for ONE WHOLE HOUR. At some point about 40 minutes in, we were close to a station I could take, and he asked me if I wanted to take the subway here. I said as you wish. He said « I could keep walking. » so we did. And after one hour he dropped me off at a station and we said goodnight.
At first, I tried to rationalise it all by thinking he said yes because the play interested him and we’re friends so it’s not weird we would go see it together and it doesn’t mean it’s a date. But the walk after feels very date-like to me. I feel like this night (plus our whole background) was our shift between « friends » and « flirt », but I could be mistaken (even if my friends wholeheartedly agree with me). What do you think ?
