How did you get good at estimating calories?

I know you have to do it a lot and for a long time. How long did it take you?

Im also not sure how to wean myself off my app. How did you do it?

I've been counting less than a year, probably 6 months max. Do I just need more time? Thanks for any insight.

Homemade pizza slice. Is 200 a fair estimate?

Sourdough crust, mozzarella cheese, some cubed turkey sausage (140 cals per sausage - maybe there is a quarter sausage on this slice?), tiny sprinkle of parmigiana, onions and bell pepper. The whole slice weighs 118g

It was more fun to make than eat. The crumb was dense and I didn't taste the spices. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it more than me. Still fun to make ☺️

... and burned the bottom 😭

The bubbles on top were browning faster than the rest and I was afraid they would burn, so I lowered the tray onto the bottom rack for the last 10 min so the heat bouncing off the top of the oven wasn't as strong... but my oven has the heat source on the bottom. Mistake ❌ Don't do it!

This is the recipe I used. I used mostly bread flour because it's all I had on hand.
