Hi there was driving up motorway earlier and suddenly battery light came on and lost a bit of power. Pulled over and stopped.

Tried jump starting with a separate powerful battery and also another car. Engine was turning a good bit but just not starting at all.

Am I right in thinking it’s the alternator? Initially thought it could just need a new battery but then if im bypassing my battery through the jump start the battery in my car in theory shouldn’t matter? Which makes me think it’s alternator. Or glo plugs
