This Ending Won’t Leave My Head

I finished Mafia: The Old Country at 100%, and honestly — it’s been a long time since a story left me with this many questions.

That’s exactly why I wanted to share my thoughts, because something about this ending just doesn’t sit right with me.

>!First of all — I don’t believe Enzo actually died.!<
>!No body = no confirmed death. The way it was presented felt really strange, especially considering we could’ve dealt with Cesare literally moments earlier. Everything happened way too fast and way too chaotically, almost like that moment existed only to push the plot forward.!<

>!The more I think about it, the more it feels like something was either cut or intentionally hidden. This is exactly the kind of moment where you’d expect someone to try to save him, go back for him, or at least check what happened. Instead, we get complete silence.!<

>!Then there’s the whole letter situation.!<
>!Seriously — who hands over something that important just seconds before a tragedy? Even considering the time period and how young they were, the entire plan feels unbelievably poorly thought out. Escaping in broad daylight, barely any control over the situation, obvious dangers along the way… It feels less like a carefully prepared escape and more like something thrown together at the last possible second — unless there was a bigger plan we simply weren’t shown.!<

>!And that’s why the ending with Izabela feels so unnatural to me.!<

>!If Enzo really died, her reaction just doesn’t feel believable. She’s told he’s dead… and that’s it? She just leaves? No attempt to go back, check anything, or even say goodbye?!<

>!I understand the volcano was erupting and the situation was catastrophic, but they weren’t the only people there. Others were trying to escape too, and the entire area was in chaos. Which makes it even stranger that nobody even tries to return, recover a body, or confirm what actually happened. Something about it feels emotionally incomplete and strangely inhuman.!<

>!That’s why this entire part of the story feels inconsistent to me.!<

>!As for the future of the game — I know the developers said this was meant to be a closed, linear story, and I respect that. But at the same time, there’s been almost complete silence for a while now. No real updates, no clear direction, nothing that helps us understand whether this truly is the definitive ending or if there’s still more planned.!<

>!Honestly? This story feels like it’s asking for more.!<

>!Free Ride also feels pretty empty in my opinion.!<
>!I’ve got 100% completion, and there’s basically nothing there that keeps me coming back. Which is a shame, because the world itself has a lot of potential, but once the story ends, everything suddenly feels lifeless.!<

>!The collectibles don’t add much either — although to be fair, I understand this is a linear game, so I wasn’t expecting anything groundbreaking.!<

>!And then there’s Leo Galante…!<
>!With his experience and connections, it’s hard for me to believe the entire plan had to play out like this. More control, more backup, some kind of contingency plan — instead, everything feels surprisingly fragile and improvised.!<

>!So here’s my theory:!<
>!Enzo survived.!<

>!Maybe someone helped him. Maybe the plan was bigger than what we saw. Or maybe the writers intentionally left certain things unsaid.!<

>!Because honestly?!<
>!This story needs one of two things:!<

>!Either a real sense of closure, where Enzo and Izabela finally get their chance at a life together — maybe somewhere like Empire Bay,!<

>!or a definitive ending that leaves absolutely no room for speculation. Even if it’s brutal or unfair, at least we’d finally know where we stand.!<

>!Right now, it feels like we’re stuck somewhere in between.!<

I’m genuinely curious how the rest of you see it — especially people who also completed the game at 100%.

Do you also feel like something was cut or intentionally hidden?
Or is it just me feeling like this story is simply… unfinished?

I have a feeling the developers intentionally left clues pointing in both directions — and that’s exactly why this ending is so hard to get out of my head.>!!<

I finished Mafia: The Old Country at 100%, and I honestly can’t stop thinking about it. It’s been a long time since a story left me with this many questions.

And that’s exactly why I wanted to share my thoughts, because something just doesn’t feel right.

First of all — I don’t buy that Enzo actually died.
No body, no death. And the way it was presented just felt completely off — especially considering we could’ve dealt with Cesare just minutes earlier. It all happened way too fast, way too chaotically, like it was only there to push the plot forward.

The more I think about it, the more it feels like something was either cut or intentionally hidden. I mean, this is exactly the kind of moment where you’d expect someone to try to save him, someone to go back, to check, to do anything… but instead, there’s just silence.

Then there’s the whole letter situation.
Seriously — who gives something that important literally seconds before a tragedy? Even considering the time period and the fact they were young, the whole plan just doesn’t make sense. Escaping in broad daylight, no real control over the situation, no red flags, and obvious obstacles along the way that could’ve been predicted. It feels more like something thrown together at the last second rather than a well-thought-out plan — unless there was something bigger going on that we simply weren’t shown.

And that leads me to the ending with Izabela.
If Enzo really died, her behavior afterward feels completely unnatural. She’s told he’s dead… and that’s it? She just leaves? No attempt to go back, no checking, no trying to say goodbye?

I get that the volcano was erupting — but they weren’t the only people there. Plenty of others were trying to escape, the situation was chaotic. Which makes it even stranger that no one even tries to go back, confirm anything, find a body, or do anything that would feel… human.

And that’s why this part of the story feels so inconsistent to me.

As for the future of the game — I know the devs said it’s meant to be a closed, linear story, and I respect that.
But at the same time, there’s been almost complete silence for a while now. No real updates, no clear direction, nothing that helps us understand whether this is truly the final ending or if there’s something more planned. And honestly, this story feels like it’s begging for more.

Free Ride? Honestly — it feels empty.
I’ve got 100% completion, and there’s nothing there that really keeps me coming back. Which is a shame, because the world itself has potential, but once the story ends, it just feels dead.

Collectibles don’t really add much either — though I get that it’s a linear game, so I wasn’t expecting too much there.

And then there’s Leo Galante…
With his experience and connections, I can’t help but feel like this whole plan could’ve been handled very differently. More control, more backup — instead, everything feels surprisingly fragile.

So here’s my theory:
Enzo survived.

Maybe someone helped him. Maybe the plan was bigger than what we saw. Or maybe something was intentionally left unsaid.

Because honestly?
This story is asking for one of two things — either a proper closure where Enzo and Izabela actually get their chance at a life together, maybe somewhere like Empire Bay… or a definitive ending that leaves no room for speculation. Something that clearly shows his death, with no ambiguity — even if it’s brutal or unfair. At least then we’d know where we stand.

Right now, it feels like we’re stuck somewhere in between.

I’m really curious how you all see it — especially those of you who also went for 100%.

Do you think something was cut or hidden?
Or is it just me feeling like this story is… incomplete?
