Love the history behind each chunk of metal and wood/plastic. It belongs to all of us.
I've bought and sold a lot in this hobby, but these three battle rifles are my bedrock. Springfield M1, born in 1938, JRA TRW M14, close as I'll ever get, and Lithgow L1A1, all-matching upper/lower. The 30 cal. cadre.
Excuse the interrobang, but picked up one of the Atlantic parts kits (woot woot) and, having the welding experience of a wombat, was going to send to Proteus Arms. Spoiler, he's referring new biz to Strout Family Firearms - who can start work in Sept.
Was talking through the $1,200 build and he mentions he converts this to a striker fired weapon - record scratch, what? Second pic of his CAD drawing.
I'm concerned - seems like even Proteus does a hammer-based conversion (if I understand correctly) - not some CAD-generated striker fired model.
Strout certainly has the experience, but I'm worried about the longer-term viability of a striker mechanism in this firearm - is it safe? Will it last?
Anyone have any insight? Thanks!
