It has come to my attention that the U.S. Army originally had plans to extend OSUT for Engineers to 22 Weeks similar to the Infantry, but it turned out that they didn’t get the chance to implement it. When it eventually does get extended, what should AIT cover more with the additional 8 weeks?
Aside from the basic combat training phase of OSUT, the key difference between 11B and 12B is always the Black and Gold Phases (AIT) of their respective OSUTs. With that being said, is it more mentally challenging to pass 12B AIT than 11B AIT considering the more technical aspects of being a combat engineer?
