How to start

I’ve been trying for the last few months to find new hobbies and creative outlets. I am very much a beginner and not particularly good. However I’ve really been enjoying watching colouring in videos on YouTube and would like to get into it.
My birthday is coming up and to treat myself I would like to buy some supplies but after watching countless videos and reading tons of posts I feel rather confused on where to start.
What would be good pencil crayons for a beginner? Do I use wax or oil based crayons? Does that even matter or does it give you different results? Do I need a certain sharpener to not damage the crayons? I really like videos and pictures of building and blending colours, do I need a blender? And if so do I need a blender crayon/marker? Do I use a solution instead?
I really like anything sort of whimsical and outdoorsy so if anyone has any recommendations for colouring books as well that would be great.
For reference I’m in South Africa so some items might not be as easily accessible or reasonably priced (because they will be imported). As I am just starting out I would prefer to not spend a lot of money but I’m also willing to save for a bit if more expensive supplies would make a difference for a beginner.
Any tips and advice would be appreciated!
