While walking alone on the path, not a soul in sight, a coyote popped out of the bushes ahead of me, in broad daylight. Snapped a pic of him from a ways off (he was a little larger than usual for a coyote, or maybe that was just my imagination). As I approached, he didn't leave path- and when I started to get near him, I went off to left of path to go around- and he began approaching me. I backpedaled and waited until he eventually wandered back into the brush. Seemed friendly but I wasn't taking chances. I've never encountered a coyote so brazen before.
