Someone Drilled a Hole in my Gas Tank Downtown

Left my car parked downtown on Pearl street off E11th for about 24 hours. Next time I drove it (Thursday), I noticed my fuel level was on E, even though I had about a half tank of gas in my car last time I drove it. took it to get more gas, fuel started pouring out everywhere. There is about a penny-sized hole in the bottom of my gas tank, which I was told by auto repair was man made.

I had to tow it and am now about to spend probably thousands repairing it. Im lucky the car didn’t explode when I drove it. Im just a struggling college student, the car was an early graduation gift that my family worked really hard to give me. I know much worse could have happened, but I’m really bummed.

I guess with the gas price increase people are now taking drills to people’s gas tanks to steal their gasoline. PSA TO Whatever idiot drilled my gas tank, you could’ve just siphoned it out of my side door gas input, it doesn’t even lock. Thanks for screwing over a stressed broke college girl!

Sorry for the rant, but For the amount of money city of Eugene makes us pay in parking tickets (because there is no place to park anywhere!), we could at least have police who protect our cars from being broken into and damaged on a regular basis (both of which have happened to me and my friends many times, I even had my grandmothers watch stolen). I am so tired of this city that does nothing about crime, I’m so sick of spending thousands of dollars that I don’t even have to fix/replace shit people break/steal.

So a PSA to everyone— watch your cars and watch out for other people, I assume someone will continue to do this to others.

I bought a bag of coffee from a bunch of local roasters and ranked them ☕

let me know where else I need to try and if I'm way off the ball with anything!

Wandering Goat: 8/10

  • Cheap bags!
  • Delicious coffee ☕
  • Wide availability
  • Not as complex/fresh as Farmer's

Farmer's union 9.5/10

  • So expensive
  • Stupidly fucking good coffee ☕
  • Close to me personally, but not as widely available as I want
  • Customer service 10/10 always

Tailored 6/10

  • Customer service was terrible
  • Coffee is just okay, especially for the price
  • Priced the same as Farmer's 😭
  • Still leagues better than grocery store or bulk beans

Pacori: 7.5/10

  • Average price
  • Love that there's dark roasts
  • Still muddy tasting compared to others on this list
  • Pretty good availability

Coffee Plant Roaster: 7/10

  • Coffee is good, only fine for the price
  • Very stuffy environment, flat customer service
  • No value for price
  • Only available at their one location
  • CBD lattes are an excellent idea, just wish they tasted better

Cafe Ama: 5/10

  • Purchased at Safeway, so beans may not have been fresh
  • Terribly muddy, even for a dark roast
  • Great availability
  • Great price
  • Just… gross as sin 🤢

Willamette and 23rd Neighbors

If you live in something like a 4 block radius of Willamette and 23rd I would greatly appreciate you checking your trash, recycling, etc bins for a backpack or a bunch of school folders and papers. Someone broke into my son's car on 23rd early this morning and stole his homework (along with other stuff), which he had worked all day on to get his grades up. It is unlikely anyone actually wanted his junk food trash and school papers, or even his scientific calculator, so they probably dumped it somewhere. We would really appreciate it! Thank you so much. Please don't tell me he shouldn't have left a backpack in his car, I'm well aware and that is not particularly useful at this time. Adding to say: I did check bins up and down the street and alley closest to his car. I'm not trying to push the work onto others. But I had to leave for work and couldn't canvas the whole neighborhood, so appealing to kindness here.

NPR for Oregonians: Tsunami Books seeks wave of support to help purchase its building

In the past, haven't there been multiple funding drives for the store to buy this building?

The land cost must be sky high just about now.

Can anyone here catch ducks?

There’s a couple ducks over by Peach cannabis, very obviously not doing well. Boy has something seriously wrong with his beak, and the girl is super weak and can’t fly away. I called a place and they want me to catch them and bring them in but I have NO CLUE how to catch a bird. They’re just regular mallards

Sweet pup in immediate need of a new home.

Meet Cooper. Cooper is set to go to Greenhill this afternoon.

Cooper is almost 13 years old. He is fixed and up to date on his shots. He is dog and cat friendly. He is also potty trained. He’s a cuddly little lap dog that just likes to snack and snooze. He deserves a steady furever home where he can spend the rest of his years. Currently he could use a haircut, otherwise he is in good health.

If you or someone you know can give him the home he deserves TODAY please send me a message.

Driving Practice

Our family moved to the area (outside Eugene) in the fall and we are still learning about our new environment. We also have a permitted teen driver. So far, we have done a ton of parking lot practice. Driving School instructors want us to start practicing more on actual roads with traffic.

Where in Eugene would be a good place to begin in a low traffic area? We are looking for a good place to practice in a lower risk area that is a good next step after parking lots.

I am still often using gps to get to where I’m going in and haven’t explored many areas outside those routes yet. He is our oldest so we are also new to having a driving aged kid.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!

Catering recommendations for memorial gathering

Hello all. My mom passed away this weekend and my sister and I would like to have a small memorial and some food. We’re going to just gather at a park but we don’t want to have to do all the cooking so are there any recommendations for good catering at a reasonable price so I can see if they had availability Sunday?

Thanks.

Art Swap

Does anyone know if there's something like an art swap in town? Or even something like a free little library but for art and trinkets?

I would love to leave some goodies in something like that.

To the person who saved our asses today

I was the guy who had to chase his dog down the river at Mount Pisgah. You helped me get out of the steep shoreline when I finally made it to shore barefoot and exhausted from fighting the current. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and assistance. Many people checked on us after and I also thank them for their kindness.

This is why I love this town. Guess we have to remember Mr Rogers telling us to look for the helpers when things in the world seem so dark.

And please everyone else be kind I am well aware at this point that it was a really bad idea for us let her swim that far out. A mistake that will never be made again. It was terrifying.

Doggo is okay... She refused to drop that tennis ball through all of it.

Ooooh that smell (Santa Clara Edition)

What's that smell? It smells horrible outside. Yeah I know it's 4/20, but it smells like someone is burning a pile of couch cushions outside. Not cool.
