How long do tonsil stones stay?
I’ve never had tonsil stones ever, noticed something on my tonsils back in Feb after being really poorly for like 2 weeks with a flu. Knew it wasn’t tonsillitis or anything as i’ve had that before and i was better after being poorly. Went to the docs who thought it was a blister, said it should go away in a few weeks, it didn’t. Went back to get some bloods done (for something else) and mentioned it again, they gave me some antibiotics (amoxicillin) to maybe clear it or reduce inflammation. Nothing happened, i’m assuming it’s a tonsil stone, hasn’t grown in size or shape or changed colour, feels like something is stuck in my throat sometimes and it’s making my throat/ears sore sometimes. It’s now May, so 3 months have passed and all the things i’ve read tonsil stones usually like a few weeks? Is it normal to last this long? My tonsils are quite small and you can see the top of the stone, but i’m guessing it might be quite deep and really buried in there? I have the worst gag reflex ever but have tried poking around with various tools to no avail. My oral hygiene is very good, i have tried gargling with warm salt water etc but nothing is shifting it, what can i actually do and if it’s very deep will it just eventually come out by itself?
