Surgery went great except for miserably sore throat
I am doing well except for moderate throat pain. It hurts pretty bad to swallow.
I am 8 days post op. Ive been living on cough drops, Throat Coat tea with honey.
I assume this is from the intubation. I didn't talk for the last two days and ate only soft foods. It briefly improved but when I woke up today it went back to being quite painful again.
I do not have pain when talking or breathing. I dont have a cough either. Just pain when swallowing. (Talking seems to make it worse, though).
I work as an ER tech and have had general anesthesia before so I'm familiar with the process (and the side effects) but I have never had a sore throat stick around for this long. I read the surgical notes and didn't see anything from Anesthesia that suggested any intubation difficulty (I have a pretty normal airway that has never been difficult to intubate before afaik).
Trying to figure out next steps. ER seems drastic but afaik to diagnose any issues would require an upper endoscopy - and I assume most GI places are booked for several weeks and I really do not wanna wait that long...
