AI (ChatGPT) in EPQ Edexcel
Please help!
Before I start, I’d like to say that I absolutely hate AI and after further research into the impacts of it I never use it anymore. However, back in November I used ChatGPT to help with my EPQ since I only had 5 days until the first draft deadline. I know this was an incredibly stupid thing to do and I regret it deeply. I got all 9s at GCSE so it wasn’t really a lack of ability, it was mainly pure laziness.
With regards to how I used it, I sourced all the evidence myself and most of the thoughts were original. However I used ChatGPT for some ideas as on how to judge the ethicality of concepts and rephrased it in my own words. When I use AI checkers it comes up as 0% AI on most but on some it says about 70% so I get very varied results.
To get to the point, today is Wednesday and the entire EPQ is due next Friday, so I have about 9 days. Do you think I have time to rewrite my entire EPQ? I’m worried this is almost impossible. I’m also scared that since I’ve read over it so many times I’ve remembered some of the AI info and it could still get flagged. It is 10,000 words so Im seriously concerned I won’t have time to rewrite it. I’m considering just dropping the EPQ to avoid any risk, but then the countless hours of work I put into it will be wasted.
I also do the Edexcel exam board for my politics A level, so how likely is it that I would also get excluded from this? I know people always say “if you use AI you get disqualified from the entire exam board“ but realistically will that happen? I can explain the use of every word in my EPQ, and I fully understand it, I can’t even tell which bits are AI anymore since I’ve reworded it all, so should I really just rewrite the whole thing?
