I’m visiting from LA and had hoped to hike Santa Fe Baldy and Lake Katherine via Winsor Trail, but an AllTrails review on May 8 talks about needing an ice axe. I’ve got spikes for a lil snow/ice but I do not have mountaineering skills or gear. Anybody have insights on what kind of snow conditions I can expect this weekend? Looks like summit temps are in the 40s the rest of the week.
If Santa Fe Baldy is a bad idea, any alternative suggestions for a long hike? (I was looking at Hamilton Mesa.) Thank you!
