Little bit about me and what brings me here: I've been living out in Japan for over 6 years now with no intention to leave. Between moving here and there, as well as an ill-timed return to Canada that got extended due to covid, I've unfortunately found myself not settling down (til now) and therefore stayed single. While I do love kids, I have no desire for my own and have been snipped since 2018... which is sort of an unexpected issue in the local dating scene! Turns out vasectomies are NOT common in Japan and a surprising amount of "i don't want children" folks in Japan are actually weirded out by the idea of the surgery.
Personality wise, I'd say I have a great sense of humour and a lot of empathy. I tend to be the very calm one and not stress out during messy situations, nor do I judge others quickly without trying to take time and see things from both sides. Generally speaking, I'm quite happy with life and I'm at a point where I don't necessarily *need* a relationship, but having someone else beside me would just make a good life even better. For that reason, I'm taking my time and waiting 'til i find the right person.
My hobbies and interests are a decent mix of indoor and outdoor. On on hand I enjoy cooking a lot, crafting, board/video games (I'm a laugh-as-i-die player, not super competitive and prioritize fun over results), movies, anime, and more. I also enjoy hiking, walking/riding my bicycle, fishing, and taking day trips here and there. I enjoy most genres of music/film/shows, my tastes in music being both random and metallic.
What I'm looking for: someone that I can get along and vibe with. Whether we share all the same hobbies and are forever each other's "player 2," binge watch all the same shows together, tease each other for our polarizing genres.. great! And if we have few hobbies in common but we have great chemistry and respect for each other, that's equally as awesome. I'm not looking to change someone else to fit some sort of 'ideal' mould- let's accept each other for who we are and grow te happiness in our lives.
I just discovered this sub-reddit on accident and I never really considered reddit to be a source for this sort of post/search 'til recently. Can't catch a fish if you don't have a line in the water, so here goes nothing ^.^ Cheers!
