Intermittent shuddering at different speeds?

Been having an issue that started up slowly and has been getting worse over the past 2 or 3 years, mechanic can't figure it out and has suggested replacing the transmission after replacing and servicing everything else he can think of

- Between 25-30mph, 35-40mph, and 55-60mph

- More often in winter

- More often when engine is cold

- Not a consistent severity, sometimes it's barely noticeable and sometimes it's aggressive enough that I consider pulling over for safety if I can't go faster for slower to get away from it

- If I set the cruise when it starts to happen, it will continue at the same severity until I get out of that range of speed. It doesn't get worse or better at the same speed when I do that

- If I slow down or speed up to get out of that shake, I have to stay out of that range for quite a while or it starts shaking again

- Feels like a rapid forwards and backwards jolt

Any ideas?

What's the longest you've waited for a cutting to put out roots?

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of me sticking this thing in the water 😭 the offshoot that has leaves has grown since I got it, and the original vine slowly lost all its leaves. It's been decaying from the bottom up slowly but surely and has never attempted to put out any roots.

Things I've tried:

- adding pothos cuttings (lasted a few months, all rooted and got potted)

- using water from my aquarium

- using RO water

- putting it in the sun

- keeping it under artificial light

- cutting the decay off, letting it scab, and then putting it back in the water (done maybe 5 or 6 times)

Is it a lost cause?

ELI5: How do scientists tie time frames to sediment(?) layers

Not quite sure how to word this.... If scientists say something along the lines of "this many years ago this lake was at this depth and by this many years ago it had dropped this many feet", or "this layer was formed this many years ago", how do they know how many years ago that was? Do they look at how the earth changes now and just work backwards?

Lighting: north facing window + basic indoor lighting (unchanged since repotting)

Watering: about 1 cup of water twice a week, last watered Sunday (unchanged since repotting)

Soil: unknown

Time since repotting: 3 days (repotted Sunday 5/3/26)

Is this just a temper tantrum from being repotted? Do I just need to water more? Did I ruin everything 😭 she was so happy but her roots were growing out of the bottom of the pot! Her new growth is still taking off and looks fine, but a handful of leaves at random intervals are throwing in the towel....
