Roanoke's Ghosts
Roanoke remains one of my favorite seasons because the Ghosts are so unique and stylized compared to the ones from Murder House/Hotel Cortez/Camp Redwood. Rather than just appearing totally human (usually) and behaving a lot like they did in life, the Roanoke ghosts are infected with the darkness of Scathatch's magic and become monstrous versions of their former selves, rotted and grotesque and burdened with the bloodlust of The Butcher and the Blood Moon. I really found myself drawn to how the ghosts appeared in "reality" compared to their "TV" depictions, and I wish we got to see both more screentime of the Roanoke ghosts AND some other ones too. Mainly, I wonder what the cast and crew of MRN act and appear like. Here's a few headcannons I've come up with over the years for the main cast
>!Matt Miller – still brainwashed by Scathach and bound to her as a lover, Matt wanders Roanoke in a hypnotic stupor despite still manifesting with his head squashed in. He can’t say or do much, but like the hunters he has a visceral appearance.!<
>!Shelby Miller – A tragic ghost, she appears dripping in her blood and murmuring about Matt and the curse, much like she was right before she dies. She’s less dangerous than the others but still wields a knife or crowbar and can snap.!<
>!Dominic Banks – Dying for a spinoff and to be the ultimate reality star villain (pun intended), Dominic got what he wanted. His villainous acting is turned real as he becomes a violent and angry spirit who acts as another strong pawn for The Butcher as well as a tormenter.!<
>!Audrey Tindall – Similar to the character her love Rory played, Audrey becomes a gunshot-riddled banshee like Edward, wailing “OH GOD” (amongst whatever else Audrey screamed those nights) and generally scaring anyone who comes close to her apparition. She frequents the cellar and tunnel alongside Edward but can also just scream in the woods and throw victims off/disorient them further.!<
>!Rory Monahan – I had a hard time coming up with a backstory for Rory, mostly because we barely know who he is other than Audrey’s young husband. He dies pretty quick too. Maybe he’s constantly yelling about how he was robbed of the “better gig” in Hollywood he landed right at the start of the Blood Moon.!<
>!Monet Tumusiime – Manifesting in a constant state of drunkenness, Monet wanders the land looking for alcohol and screaming for a way out. Possibly the most human of the ghosts, she constantly forgets she has a giant hole in her stomach.!<
>!Agnes Mary Winstead – Driven mad by close association with The Butcher before she even died, she remains in a similar state to how she was in life: phasing between lucidity and madness and acting as a “false Butcher” to fool victims.!<
>!Sidney Aaron James – His obsession with creating the best show ever is heightened, becoming a spirit who will deceive and lie to victims to draw them into danger to “get the best scenes ever” and “make the show as real as possible” not realizing he’s dead and the “effects” are real and truly horrific.!<
What do you guys think? Do y'all have any headcanons of your own about these characters or any I left out? Am I Thinking too much about this?
