Not even sure what subreddit to post this on.

I was confused with the red and black thumbnail preview on all my comment activity notifications on instagram. These are all posts by different people, yet the same thumbnail shows on all my comment activity previews. I zoomed in, getting half of this demonic face. I did a reverse image search, yet this is an original image, presumably AI generated.

My question is, why is this happening? And, has anyone experienced similar? Kind of eerie.
