I use the "match with someone on your level" button at the top of the stack
Then I look at # of words played, higher is better, and % win rate, higher is better, highest point word (over 100 is a must) and I try to match with low character user names, IE 3 or 4 character names like "bob" or "qat" because this indicates they are among the first 47,000 to have joined the game.
