I just hit Master Ball 3 in doubles, and my ranking is about 48K. In contrast, I would usually finish around 2K-4K in ranked battles in Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet. I feel like I’m winning at about the same rate as I did back then, and I perceive that my skill has improved. But I also think the quality of competition is stronger in Champions than it was back in SS and SV.

Were top players just not very active in ranked battles in the older games? Were they all exclusively focused on tournaments and Showdown? Or are there just lots of really good noobs playing Champions?

(Whatever the answer, I think it’s great that competitive Pokemon seems to be exploding in popularity!)
