Why is this happening???? How do I fix it?

The video shows the issue, it was mostly not a problem while rigging the eye but then I went to copy paste (reflect) it to the other side and half the sclera is missing (aka as if its actually using the mesh that it glitches to in the vid)

Please God help me help me (why do my clipping masks not work?)

I tried to follow this tut on yt for easy mouth masks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZslK_b67I4

My issue is that when I try to clip the items inside the mouth to the inverse masks (top and bottom) it completely breaks (picture 2), it only works when I clip EITHER the top mask OR the bottom mask (picture 1, clipping to top mask).

My masks are both inverse masks on 0 opacity and not clipped to anything, lmk if picture needed.

Please no critique on color/shading, I'm not really at that stage yet for this work.

I feel like something just looks wrong with the anatomy of his face. Keep in mind my ref is only a shading/pose ref and i'm not looking to copy the likeness of it. I've been tweaking everything for a while now and I still think something is wrong with the lips, nose or position of eyes/eyebrows.

Any advice appreciated (work is digital).

Okay, so, I realize that the obvious answer here is no, because all artists use references in their work. But I thought I’d ask for opinions here since in my case, it feels extreme.

I’ve been practicing my art fundamentals since last year and I’ve improved a lot when comparing my art from when I just started out and now, I’ve even retained some concepts of facial anatomy and light. Still, when I try to draw for myself nowadays, I run into a huge issue, which is that my art looks like shit when I don’t copy the face, light or pose off a reference. I tried to wing a standard portrait the other day and I couldn’t believe how dull, muddy, and off everything looked.

I tried again today with a reference and copied off the shading and forms of the face and suddenly it looks great.

I feel like I definitely should’ve retained more independence by now, especially since the difference between no ref and ref is so stark.

I’m concerned that I’ve learned to copy rather than to actually draw, which scares me. So any opinions or advice on this is appreciated.

I don't know how to foreshorten; please help! The shading makes no sense to me, and all the refs I could find are of someone wearing a t-shirt so i can't see it well.
