Hi all,
This may likely be a camera setting issue as much as it's a flash issue but I'm using a Godox tt685ii-c on a Canon R8 with a 35mm lens. I usually use my camera in manual mode but with auto ISO on. I was under the impression that auto ISO would work with the flash (it does appear to compensate somewhat for it).
However for subjects up close they end up way over exposed, if not completely blown out, like white.
Obviously you have to be quite close with a 35mm, but if I change fix the ISO to say 400 (which is usually down from like 1600 or more) it looks better, though a bit of a harsher flash look which could probably be adjusted out, so its not that it's shooting at the lowest it can go and still blowing it out.
Bouncing the light works well, so that's all fine, there's just times where that might not work.
Is it a case of not using auto ISO or is something else going on? I would have thought eTTL would have handled it a bit better.
Thanks.
