Building “Corpus” — A Self-Hosted WhatsApp AI Assistant

Been building a self-hosted WhatsApp AI assistant called Corpus.

The idea was to make something that feels less like a bot and more like an actual assistant that can naturally exist inside chats and groups.

Current stuff it can do:

  • Context-aware conversations
  • English, Banglish, and Hinglish support
  • Voice note understanding
  • User memory and personalized replies
  • Group-aware interactions
  • Summon-based activation system
  • Local-first architecture

Still working on improving:

  • group reply consistency
  • message sync delays
  • long-context memory
  • voice transcription reliability

This started as a random side project and somehow turned into something I use daily now.

If anybody wants to help, test, contribute ideas, or just explore the project, let me know and I can share the repository.

Hey everyone!

I’m a developer looking to start a new open-source project focused on creating something genuinely helpful for the community. I’m currently in the early stages and looking for a few curious, like-minded hobbyists who want to build something cool from the ground up.

What is the project?

I’m looking to develop a tool that solves daily workflow bottlenecks (open to discussing the exact niche with the initial team!). Whether it’s automation, UI/UX improvements, or a lightweight utility, the goal is to keep it open-source and community-driven.

Who I’m looking for:

  • Hobbyists who enjoy coding for the sake of learning and building.
  • Developers who are comfortable working in a collaborative, "no-pressure" environment.
  • Anyone interested in contributing to open-source and building up their portfolio.

The "Important" Stuff (Hardware & Payment):

  • Non-Commercial/Hobbyist Only: To be upfront—there is no payment involved. This is a passion project. No one is getting paid, and no one is paying you. It’s about the craft and the collaboration.
  • System Requirements: You don't need a supercomputer. As long as you have at least an i3 CPU (or equivalent) and 8GB+ of RAM, you’re good to go. A dedicated GPU is completely optional.

If you’ve got some free time and want to jump into a fresh repo, drop a comment or shoot me a DM! Let’s talk about what we can build together.

Hey everyone! I’m looking to set up an OpenClaw gateway on my older Samsung Galaxy Tab A7.

The Specs:

  • RAM: 2GB
  • CPU: There r 2 cpu i forgot the name
  • OS: Android 16

I know the official "Standard" recommendation is 2GB+, but since this is a tablet with background services already eating up memory, I’m worried about the 2GB bottleneck.

My Plan:

  1. Use Termux (F-Droid version) to run the gateway.
  2. Avoid proot-distro to save the ~1GB overhead of a full Linux environment.
  3. trying to use whatsapp.

Questions for the community:

  • Has anyone successfully run the gateway on a 2GB Android device without constant OOM (Out of Memory) kills?
  • Are there specific "Lite" configuration flags I should use to minimize the Node.js memory footprint?
  • Should I swap the storage for a high-speed MicroSD to help with the SQLite database performance?

Any tips on keeping this stable would be huge!

and also if anyone wanna help me just reply to me

Hi everyone,

I’ve been trying to get into the Oracle Cloud Always Free tier to host a small project (OpenClaw) 24/7. I’m specifically looking for instances in US East (Ashburn), US West (Phoenix), or Germany Central (Frankfurt).

Unfortunately, I keep hitting the dreaded "transaction processed" error during sign-up, and it seems my region/card isn't being accepted. Since I really need a "Forever Free" (not a 12-month trial) solution that isn't Oracle, I wanted to ask:

  1. Are there any other providers with a legitimate "Always Free" VPS tier that is easier to sign up for?
  2. I’ve looked at Google Cloud’s e2-micro, but the 1GB RAM is a bit tight. Does anyone have experience running lightweight engines on it?
  3. Are there any low-cost providers (under $2-3/month) that are reliable if a free tier isn't an option outside of Oracle?

I’m looking for something persistent that won't disappear after a year. Any advice on bypassing the sign-up issues or choosing a different provider would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to set up a 24/7 OpenClaw instance that is completely free forever. I know Oracle Cloud is the king of free tiers, but I’ve had issues with account registration/availability in my region, so I’m looking for alternatives.

Most providers like AWS and Azure only offer "free for 12 months," but I’m looking for an Always Free tier that can actually handle OpenClaw.

My current leads:

  1. Google Cloud (GCP): Their e2-micro instance is Always Free in specific regions (us-west1, us-central1). However, it only has 1GB RAM. Has anyone managed to run OpenClaw on this using a heavy Swap File or a super-stripped-down Linux distro (like Alpine)?
  2. Fly.io / Railway: These used to be great, but their free tiers have become very restrictive or "trial-only" recently. Are they still viable for a low-resource game engine?
  3. Hole-in-the-wall providers: Are there any smaller niche providers (like Laby.cloud or similar) that offer tiny "Always Free" containers?

The Goal: * 0% Cost: No "12-month" traps.

  • 24/7 Uptime: For hosting a persistent instance.
  • Optimization: If the RAM is the bottleneck, what’s the best way to "slim down" the OpenClaw build to fit into <1GB RAM?

If anyone has a working setup that isn't on Oracle, I’d love to know your specs and how you bypassed the OOM (Out of Memory) kills. Thanks!

I recently finished installing LineageOS on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (SM-T505). I've successfully upgraded it from the stock Android 12 to Android 16.

The most incredible part? Even with only 2GB of RAM, the performance improvement is night and day. On the stock software, it felt sluggish, but now it’s running perfectly smooth. It has completely breathed new life into this hardware.

I’m so impressed with the experience that I plan on making LineageOS my go-to for any future devices I purchase.

If anyone is interested in a guide or needs assistance installing this on your own device (especially if you're struggling with low RAM performance), feel free to join my new community:r/CasualDevelopers. I’ll be posting a detailed walkthrough there and am happy to help troubleshoot any issues you might run into!

First of all, I want to sincerely apologize to the r/openclaw community and the moderators for this meta-post. I really appreciate the space you’ve built here.

I’m reaching out because I’ve started a new community calledr/CasualDevelopers, and I thought some of you might find it interesting!

Our goal is to create a relaxed, low-pressure environment for developers of all skill levels to:

  • Share side projects and "just for fun" code.
  • Ask questions without the fear of being "too beginner."
  • Chat about the developer lifestyle without the intense grind-culture vibe.

If you’re looking for a chill place to hang out and talk tech, we’d love to have you. Thanks for letting me share, and again, my apologies for the interruption!
