Hey everyone,

I just got my SRMJEEE Phase 1 result and my rank is around 1200. I had a few doubts about what happens next and would really appreciate help from anyone who’s gone through the process or is currently studying at SRM.

Am I automatically eligible for counselling/choice filling with this rank, or is there anything extra I need to do/register?

What is the exact process after results? Like timeline-wise — when does counselling start, how many rounds are there, and what should I be prepared for?

I’ve heard that choice filling is VERY important and people sometimes mess it up and lose better branches/campuses.

How should I prioritize choices?

Is it better to go branch > campus or campus > branch?

With ~1200 rank, what are my realistic chances for:

CSE (Core)

CSE with specialization (AI/ML, etc.)

At KTR campus specifically?

If anyone is currently in SRM (especially KTR), I’d love to hear:

How is the crowd and coding culture?

Placements (realistically, not brochure stats)

Is it worth it overall?

Also, if someone is okay with it, I’d really appreciate a quick DM/chat for guidance on counselling and filling choices properly — I don’t want to mess this up.

Thanks a lot 🙏

  1. Am I automatically eligible for counselling/choice filling with this rank, or is there anything extra I need to do/register?

  2. What is the exact process after results? Like timeline-wise — when does counselling start, how many rounds are there, and what should I be prepared for?

Girls who’ve lived in Indian college hostels with common/shared bathrooms — I have two doubts and I’d really want honest answers 😭

  1. Menstrual cup in hostel bathrooms

I’ve been using a menstrual cup for years, so I’m comfortable with it at home, but I’m anxious about using it in a hostel with common bathrooms.

How do you manage it there?

- Is it practical to keep using a cup in shared washrooms?

- How do you remove/reinsert it when the bathroom space is small and privacy is limited? I usually need to squat properly.

- How do you rinse it if the sink is outside or shared?

- What if there’s blood on your hands?

- Do you carry a water bottle inside?

- Do most girls continue using cups or switch back to pads?

  1. Showering + changing clothes in girls’ hostels

This is my second big confusion 😭

After showering, do girls usually:

- wear clothes inside the bathroom itself and come out fully changed?

- or wear a robe/towel and go back to the room, then change there?

Because bathrooms are small, there may be a time limit, and I don’t want my jeans/clothes getting wet while changing inside.

But if I come back in a robe/towel, how does changing in the room work if roommates are there?

Do people just normally change in front of each other?

Do you ask them to leave?

Do you wait?

What is the usual hostel girl code here 😭

I’m moving to a hostel soon and I’m overthinking everything, so please tell me the real practical situation and any hacks that help.
