Engineering Materials

I know these systems don't have heated chambers or an 'official' top yet.

I also know some of the hardened nozzles still appear to be on pre-order, but amazon is offering knockoffs.

Just curious if anyone has tried nylon, pa612-cf, pc etc.?

Seriously considering trying one of these at this price point. Just want to know what it's limitations are.

I ordered a U1, should be here Tuesday. I went back and forth on many options. I recently sold my last bed slinger(SV03). Currently rocking an XL5 and K2 Plus. Both have their pluses and minuses. Speed, heated enclosure, more color(2 CFS etc), for the K2, 5 heads on the XL but with their crappy enclosure, slower, but man that thing is perfection otherwise. It can also now print silicone with the optional tool head if you need so they are still developing for it.

Almost went with the H2C and the vortek. Never had that brand, fanboy's love them. However the nearly 3x cost for an additional 30mm didn't seem worth it as a middle ground. Also the fact they've locked up their open source start and sued a guy that found a workaround to stop is kind of crappy IMHO.

I got a bit nervous about the smaller print bed/brand and tried to cancel the order but they couldn't stop the order in time since it had received a FedEx tracking #. Customer service is telling me to refuse the delivery but I'm likely not going to be home during it's delivery time.

So I've decided to give it a go if it lands on my doorstep.

I'm a little nervous about the smaller build plate, but to be fair I only use the full plate on these monsters 15% of the time I'd say.

This seems like a fair option to go between all the other ones currently out there.

Also the early popularity seems to be hard to get 'official spare parts' and it seems lacking included ones. So what should I chase down on Amazon or Aliexpress to make sure if I screw something up early on I'm not DOA.

Planning on doing the sterilite enclosure option since the nearest Ikea is 2+ hours away and a Walmart/Home depot is 5 minutes.

Also any info related to initial setups gotchas since obviously I wanna get it together and do the 3 hour dragon print as quickly

I know this is a Prusa form so a lot of the responses I get here will likely be biased.

Looking to add another printer to the collection.

I found a low hour XL5T, mostly stock except he changed heads to allow for non Prusa nozzles. He also has the buddy camera. Asking price is 3k

Also interested in the H2C with it's Vortek nozzle change system.

I lose build volume on the H2C. I also don't think it'll handle multi-material as well as the XL

However I will gain an enclosure that I won't have to build or buy and a heated, chamber.

I guess the biggest part of my concern is whether or not the XL series will still get love from the company? The INDX system seems to be getting all the attention right now.

So after 3 short years has the XL become semi obsolete?

No one really knows except what they're discussing internally and I doubt they're going to share much with John Q. Public at this time.

Looking for thoughts and opinions
