After several years of trashing comedians and the scene, we now have Ben talking about the hang at the Comedy store and how charming Matt Rife is...is comedy legal again? Did the Dye event make him realize if he cant beat them then he should join them?
I think one of the most revealing moments in the whole debacle with dye hard was how offended Ben got when his comedy was critized. There was an underlying home erotic tension where you could tell Ben was seathing because his stand-up (which is terrible) was critisized by a "hack". He seemed so desperate when he name dropped his upcoming appearance on story wars "even though he is not a real comedian or part of the old guard like jeff".
Jeff just had an attitude of.. ok you think im hack? thats ok a lot of people do, its not for you. Why are you saying all these weird unhinged things about me though?
Turns out acting like you are this tortured virtuous north star of comedy and have a duty to own all the chuds and defend real comedy, is pretty much one of the hackiest characters you can play unless you nail the part perfectly. Ben didn't even come close to perfect though as we all saw, he just looked pathetic and insecure.
