Throughout volume 7 they presented him has potentially untrustworthy and scared to reveal the truth to his people. throughout the volume his whole arc is beginning to trust those around him and be more honest with his people. episode 9 and 10 feel like the conclusion of this. he's telling the people the truth, trusting those around him and revealing everything about Salem. even the beginning of episode 11 shows him having this heroic moment only for them to kinda just turn it around later in that episode. i just find it stupid. maybe make him have this turn in late volume 7 but use volume 8 episode 10 as an opportunity for him to make a deal where he allows the ships to evacuate mantle if team rwby helps him raise atlas but instead they turn him into an evil cartoon villain who wants to destroy mantle for no reason. His character has always been being someone who does the right thing no matter the cost but it feels like they just threw that away in the name of him being evil. It just feels like wasted potential. the whole reason why team rwby went against ironwood was because he was leaving mantle but literally if a deal was made where mantle would be evacuated and they could raise atlas this whole thing could've been avoided. i feel like it's a failure of writing
