Looking for HELOC recommendations from folks who've gone through the process recently.
Quick context: we're planning to renovate most of our house over the next few years and want a HELOC as a flexible buffer rather than a one-time loan. Plan is to draw, pay off fast, and repeat. Our LTV is around 38% and our credit is solid, so I'm not too worried about qualifying, just trying to find the best fit.
I've been looking at Canvas, Elevations, and Westerra so far but I'd love to hear real experiences before I commit to one.
A few specific questions for anyone who's been through this:
- Who did you go with and would you do it again?
- How was the application and underwriting process? Smooth or painful?
- Any surprise fees, annual charges, or inactivity fees that weren't obvious upfront?
Open to options I haven't considered too. Thanks in advance.
