Hey guys, would love to get your take on this. I’m currently an Enterprise AE in the analytics/martech space. I’ve been at my company for 6 years with the last 4 as an AE with some incredible logos closed. My current base is $137k, and I’ve made around $220k per year the past two years.
I’ve been considering leaving because, candidly, the company feels like it’s heading in the wrong direction (yearly layoffs, new leadership year over year, nobody hitting quota, etc.) That said, the comp for me is great. Im basically fully remote, work maybe 3 hours a day on average, and honestly have one of the best work/life balances of anyone I know.
Back in the winter, I explored other opportunities and made it to the final round for the Emerging Enterprise role. I didn’t end up getting it, but they later came back and offered me an SMB role instead. The offer was a $100k base, 5 days a week in-office, but if I remember correctly was around $70k in equity.
I turned it down, and I’m curious if you guys think that was the right move. Obviously was pretty bummed when I saw the acquisition news…
For context, I’m getting married this fall, so part of me wanted to ride out the year, enjoy the flexibility, and not add unnecessary stress before the wedding. After that though, I’d want to go all in and focus on landing the right Enterprise opportunity there or Anthropic (complete stretch I know, but I know some people there and can get an interview again).
