I've realized picking wine isn't really about taste, it's about how confident I feel in the moment Some days I walk into a store or look at a wine list and I'm completely fine, I just pick something and move on like it's nothing. Other days I'll stand there overthinking every option, second guessing myself and suddenly it feels like there's a right and wrong answer and I have no idea which is which.
What's weird is my taste hasn't changed, It's more about the situation and how sure I feel going in. If I recognize something on the list or I have a reason behind my choice even a small one, I feel way more comfortable ordering it. If I don't have that, I hesitate and the whole thing becomes harder than it should be.
