Yesterday my (15F) brother (19M) made very homophobic comments about gay people and i don't know what to do. Two of my brothers and I were talking about something that led to us discussing gay people.
I don't remember what it was but suddenly my oldest brother said very proudly like twice that he was homophobic and then said that lesbians weren't really gay as they were girls so that meant they couldn't be.
I was confused and told him that they were gay and it didn't matter that they were girls and that they were just as gay as men liking men. My brother then started yelling slurs about how gay men deserve to die and be castrated, tortured. Calling them faggots and how he hates them and that they don't deserve love.
I asked him if he was joking and tried to insist that he was but he said that he was not every time i asked. I had absolutely no idea he thought this way and told him that he shouldn't say that and it was hurtful and rude and that gay people go through a lot of troubles but he didn't care. He kept repeating his insults about three times.
He also said that if my other brother turns out to be gay he wouldn't hate him but that he won't look at him the same and that if who wouldn't allow our younger siblings to turn out gay either.
I want to talk to my mom about it but i don't want my brother to be kicked out, though I know it's an extreme scenario as my brother doesn't have a job but even if he doesn't get kicked out my mom will talk to him and he figure out it was me who snitched and there will be tension in the house.
I never really thought my older brother thought like this as my mother and other brother don't care if men like men or or if women like women. But then again I barely know him.
