Veeam Agent says “invalid folder path” when backing up to VeraCrypt external SSD

I’m trying to use Veeam Agent for Windows to back up my computer to an external SSD that I already use with VeraCrypt.

The SSD already has other files inside the VeraCrypt volume. I can unlock/mount it successfully, and it shows up as a normal drive letter in Windows. However, when I try to set a folder inside the mounted VeraCrypt volume as the Veeam backup location, I get an “invalid folder path” error.

My goal is to keep using the same encrypted SSD without wiping it, and have Veeam save backups to a dedicated folder.

Has anyone gotten Veeam Agent working reliably with a mounted VeraCrypt volume, or is Veeam’s built in encryption the better option for this?

Any advice would be great, I’m not really tech literate. I got a new laptop after my old one got a virus (need replacing anyways over 5 years old), didn’t back it up so I want to lock in for my new one and back it up. I know almost nothing about technology aside from basic office worker knowledge. Planning to soon learn more about computers and related fields as such.
