So I’m lying here in bed at 5am typing this because I woke up about half an hour ago feeling this pain in my upper back, just next to my shoulder blade.
It started aching about 2 weeks ago, I went for a massage, spent some time in the jacuzzi at my gym, have been doing more back-targeting exercises at the gym and it’s getting worse. I haven’t given up trying to play golf yet but I don’t think that’s helping.
This kind of steady, reliable physical pain is a brand new thing to me; I’m 37 and never played much sport or anything when I was younger so never had any injuries to deal with but I’m not sure how to try and tackle this. It’s possible this has been caused by having to lift up my kids (2 and 6) or something else related to just normal dad life.
I’ve logged it with my health insurer and they’ve given me access to this app with some exercises on it that it says to do twice a day, I’m doing my best to keep up with it but it doesn’t seem to be helping, should I push to see an actual physio?
It’s already affecting my hobbies (golf as I mentioned but it’s also started causing trouble when I’m playing guitar) and now it’s started to affect my sleep so I’m just looking for some opinions. Growing old sucks!
