Non-American EVs

Whether people agree with the philosophy or not, I am part of the now-often-mocked “elbows up” crowd and am trying to back up my personal beliefs with consumption choices. Since my next vehicle will be an EV and is likely to be the single biggest product purchase in my life, I’d like to avoid contributing to the US economy as much as practically possible - though there is a limit to the premiums I am prepared to pay when it comes to the boycott. And in relation to a vehicle, simply doing without isn’t a realistic option. Since there isn’t a Canadian made EV on the horizon, I am wondering about non-US options. I know the globalized marketplace makes some of these ownership conglomerates a bit of a grey area, but I am starting by thinking of foreign-owned manufacturers like Nissan, Subaru, Volvo, etc.

Wondering about suggestions that avoid US contributions as much as possible. Thanks

Planchet issue or corrosion damage?

As per the title I am wondering if this copper coin from the 1800’s has some kind of planchet delamination (or something like that) or if it is just some form of corrosion that has left portions of the surface pitted.

I lean towards the former because corrosion would presumably affect the letters and beading which seem pretty unaffected by the issue - but it also doesn’t really look like the images of delaminated coins when I look online. And if it was corrosion, someone would have had to thoroughly clean it to remove the signs of the corrosion itself - and the coins doesn’t look cleaned I that way.

Any insights would be appreciated.
