Need advice to recover ₹18,000 from a bed dealer after 2 years
We recently shifted near Surat(district in Gujarat). Earlier we used to live in Bharuch(a different district in Gujarat).
Around 2 years ago, while shifting to a new house, my father paid ₹18,000 advance to a bed/furniture dealer in Bharuch for making beds. After taking the money, the dealer kept giving excuses for months like “factory got burnt”, “material is not coming”, etc. Eventually neither the beds were delivered nor was the money returned.
At that time my father’s job situation was changing and he also had to travel abroad for work, so he didn’t want to get involved in police/court matters and ignored it even though it kept bothering him mentally.
A few days ago he read somewhere about the e-Jagriti consumer complaint portal and told me to try filing a complaint. While filling it, I told him that filing case here is difficult for normal, and that led to an argument.
Due to agrument he challenged me saying: “If you think you can do it, recover the money yourself. Whatever amount you recover, you will keep.”
Now it has become kind of ego for me to actually recover this money.
We still have:
- Bill/receipt
- Online payment proof
- Dealer’s phone number
- His residence/shop address
-A call recording where he accepts that he has taken money.
Would genuinely appreciate advice from people who know how these things work in Gujarat and how can i still recover money form him and also can do it without going to the district of cause of action.
