I wanted to know if there is typically a difference in room and board charges between different NICU levels. If this is hospital specific, I can try to contact them but just wanted to know if there was a general rule.
The hospital I birthed at had a level II NICU and my son would have been fine being admitted there, but the NICU was full. They transferred us to a level III NICU. This really sucks as it resulted in extra ambulance bills for us both since they wouldn’t discharge me the day after a C section.
Just trying to save any money I can so wanted to know if there’s a difference in charges, is there any basis for adjusting them since he didn’t need the level 3 NICU?
Thanks for any advice - really struggling with lots of re-adjusted claims coming in when my son is nearly a year old.
