Applied for spouse visa category B using a solicitor.

Proof of relationship: Got married in 2025, and lived together since being married in June.

Financial requirement: we had to combine income because we were on zero hours variable income and I changed employment in last six months.

Issues that worried us:

Financial requirement: We didn’t meet one the two tests for CAT B requirement a few months ago and solicitor advised that our combined income should be £2,416 on the month of application.

Date of application: I was on a contract basis employment and solicitor stated that I needed to be employed at the time of application, it didn’t matter if I had an offer for future employment. This was awkward because this mean when my new contract started my payslip would be out of date (this must be within 28 days)

Wages and Statements: Husband sometimes used wage stream to get some £££ earlier than payday. Solicitor advised to submit Wage stream statements in addition to payslips and bank statements since it must match

Sent application 30 April 2026

Biometric Appointment 06 May 2026 9am - couldn’t get earlier one because of weekends and bank holiday.

Approval and Update on UKVI 07 May 2026 10am

Was stressed about it the whole bank weekend holiday!!!

Also worth getting a solicitor, because mine picked out things I didn’t realise or notice that could have delayed the application.

Hope it helps someone :)

Edit: I put together a folder with all the required document.

Proof of relationship: Marriage certificate and six photos of us from wedding. Tenancy agreement with both our name and a joint bank statement from since we started the account. Both our identity documents and my Evisa.

Financial requirement: personal bank statements, p60, wages slip for last 12 months and employment verification letter dated within the last 28 days. I switched employers so I requested a letter from previous employer as well.

We took our holidays and Worked more hours preceding the application to increase our monthly wage. We usually worked 4 days a week as we both in uni. We had our “paid holidays” once a week/fortnight which increased our monthly gross wages.
